Upendra surpasses Mani Ratnam with 'UI' Upendra's much-awaited film UI, directed and starring Upendra, is all set to release on December 20. At the pre-release event, Century Star Shivarajkumar appreciated Upendra's talent and compared him to ace director Mani Ratnam. "Upendra has always been my first darling. While doing 'Om', I said - Upendra will surpass Mani Ratnam. Uppi's films bring reality," said Shivanna. The trailer of "UI" has caught the attention of the audience and it shows the storyline of the future 2040. Upendra's fierce dialogues and gun-wielding look have piqued the curiosity of the audience. The film touches on serious issues such as "caste, power, bloodshed" and "UI" sometimes challenges the intelligence of the audience. Shivanna proposed to Upendra to do "Om 2" on stage. He wished the team all the best for the success of KGF and Kanthara. Produced by Lahari Films and Venus Entertainments, Manohar Naidu and K.P. Srikanth has produced the film in a grand manner. Reshma Nanaiah is playing the female lead opposite Upendra in the film. Upendra is expected to create a stir in the film industry once again with UI.
