Actor Prakash Raj and social activist Medha Patkar had gone to Delhi to speak on behalf of the farmers protesting against land acquisition in Devanahalli for the past few days, but the meeting of the standing committee on agriculture was cancelled due to their participation. Prakash Raj has expressed his displeasure over the incident.

Farmers' representatives were invited to the meeting held on July 1. Prakash Raj and Medha Patkar were particularly present to speak on the issue of acquisition of 1777 acres of land in 13 villages of Chennarayapatna hobli near Devanahalli. However, the BJP MPs walked out of the meeting as Prakash Raj was present in the meeting and the meeting itself was later cancelled.

Reacting to this, Prakash Raj said, "Are we terrorists? Did you come to drop the bomb? Is it a crime to speak on behalf of farmers?" "The problem is with the people, we are their voice. There need not be any party sentiment against it," he said.

The question is why a situation was created where the meeting could not be held without the support of political parties without listening to the farmers' questions. There is a widespread view that the committee, which invited the meeting, cancelled the meeting due to the arrival of the guest, was against the principles of Lokshahi.

"It should not be a government, it should be a pro-people force. I will also question the Congress government. This problem should reach them. I will stop supporting the rights of farmers when I am old," he said.
