Heroine Navya Nair, who made her debut with the Kannada film "Gaja", recently made headlines for a rare reason. She was fined around Rs 1.14 lakh for carrying jasmine flowers at the Melbourne International Airport. (AUD) (AUD) was fined.

Navya Nair was recently in Melbourne, Australia to attend an Onam celebration organised by the Malayali Association of Victoria. Before leaving Kochi, his father had bought jasmine flowers, one to be folded during the journey and the other to keep in a handbag.

They are only 15 cm. A long garland was kept in a cabin bag. However, it was detected by customs officials at melbourne airport. According to Australian law, no plant material, including flowers, is allowed to be brought to the country without prior declaration.

Navya Nair reacted boldly to the incident, describing it as a "learning experience". Sharing a video taken with jasmine flowers on her Instagram, she wrote a sarcastic caption, "Drama before paying the fine!" Speaking at a public event, he said, "It was an unknowingly wrong mistake. The law is the same for everyone. Ignorance does not forgive. I have been asked to pay the fine within 28 days," he said.

Australia's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has imposed strict rules on international travellers. An announcement must be made first to bring fresh flowers, leaves, fruits and other plant materials. Biosecurity officials check them for pests and diseases. Violators will face a maximum fine of AUD of Rs 6,600 (Rs 3.8 lakh), cancellation of visa or criminal prosecution.

The purpose of these rules is to protect Australian agricultural industries from pests and diseases. The Navya Nair incident is a warning to many. It is essential for everyone to know and follow the biosecurity regulations of the destination country while travelling internationally. Even the slightest negligence can lead to lakhs of fines.
