Insult to Kannadigas on SIMA 2025 Dubai stage: Duniya Vijay strongly condemns

Actor Duniya Vijay has condemned the south Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA 2025) in Dubai. The SIIMA Award is given to the best artists and technicians of South Indian cinema. However, like previous years, kannada artistes were not given due respect.

The awards were presented to Telugu and Kannada films at a function held on the night of September 5. But earlier, telugu films were given awards. By the time their programme was over, it was late at night. Of course, Telugu celebrities and audiences left. It was only after that that the distribution of awards to Kannadigas began. Tributes were paid to Kannadigas when the front of the stage was almost empty.

Duniya Vijay, who won the Best Director Critics Award for 'Bheema', expressed his displeasure when he went on stage to receive the award: "How right is it to call kannadigas to stage when no one is around? Kannada language is up, don't try to bring it down. If we continue like this in the next programme, we won't come to SIIMA." His condemnation was met with loud applause from some Kannadigas on the dais.

Actor Sudeep won the best actor award. But he was not present. On their behalf v. Nagendra accepted the award. The audience chairs were already almost empty. This is not the first time this is happening. Earlier, actor Darshan had also expressed his displeasure over the lack of preference for Kannadigas on the SIIMA platform. He was given a seat in the backward row. Later, he did not attend the SIIMA event and reacted sharply.

This incident has once again hurt kannadigas. Fans are of the opinion that the time has come for Kannada celebrities to come together and take a decision to give a befitting reply to this humiliation that takes place every year.
