Renukaswamy murder case: Darshan demands pillow and mattress, Pavithra Gowda files bail application again

The Renukaswamy murder case in Chitradurga is taking a new turn day by day. The bail of seven accused, including actor Darshan and his close aide Pavithra Gowda, has been cancelled and all of them are currently lodged in Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, different demands and petitions have been heard before the court from both sides.

Darshan's lawyer Sunil Kumar, who is in jail, told the sessions court, "We are not asking for home food or 5-star facility for Darshan. But they are not getting basic amenities. According to the jail manual, the accused can get a pillow and a bed at his expense. However, Darshan has been given only one bedsheet. A pillow-bed is necessary in these cold times."

The court adjourned the hearing on their demand and the verdict is expected on September 2. On the other hand, Pavithra Gowda, whose bail was cancelled by the Supreme Court, has now filed a bail application again in a lower court.

His lawyer Balan said, "We are not challenging the Supreme Court order. However, there is a technical flaw in it. Therefore, Pavithra Gowda should be granted bail." In response, the prosecution's counsel Sachin objected and said, "The Supreme Court order is clear. Therefore, the bail application should be rejected." The verdict on the petition has also been postponed to September 2.

With this, the prosecution had filed an application seeking transfer of Darshan to Ballari jail. The hearing has also been adjourned to the same day. Darshan's lawyer has strongly objected to the Bellary shift, citing his mother's illness and difficulties in visiting the lawyer.

The verdict on the three petitions will be pronounced on September 2: Will Darshan get additional facilities in jail?, Will Pavithra Gowda get bail again?, Will Darshan shift to Ballari jail? Questions will be answered. It is true that the developments in this case have generated a lot of curiosity in the state.
